Shipping, Tracking & Delivery

Sending and receiving classic automotive components—from delicate gauges to heavy engine blocks—requires care and transparency. The Parts Shop makes delivery simple with integrated tracking and structured carrier expectations to ensure your parts arrive safely.

🚚 Shipping Options & Couriers

Sellers on The Parts Shop choose the best shipping method based on the size, weight, and fragility of the part:

  • Standard & Express Couriers: Integrated tracking via Royal Mail, Evri, DPD, or Parcelforce for typical items (trim, lights, small mechanical parts).
  • Freight & Pallet Delivery: Used for oversized or heavy components (engines, gearboxes, complete body panels, doors).

📦 For Buyers: Tracking Your Order

Once a seller dispatches your part, you'll receive an automated notification with tracking information:

  1. Live Dashboard Updates: View tracking progress directly from your Orders tab.
  2. Tracked Delivery Requirement: All sellers must provide a valid tracking number to start the 48-hour inspection timer.
  3. Receiving Freight/Pallet Deliveries: For heavy items, ensure someone is available at the delivery address to inspect the pallet condition upon arrival.

For Sellers: Dispatch Rules & Timelines

To ensure buyers aren't left waiting on crucial restoration parts, sellers must adhere to clear dispatch expectations:

  • Upload Tracking Promptly: Enter the courier name and valid tracking code directly into the order dashboard immediately after dispatching.
  • Proper Packaging Standards: Classic components must be wrapped securely. Use rigid boxes, bubble wrap, and structural support for heavy or fragile items. Damage caused by inadequate packaging is the seller's responsibility.

📏 Suggested Shipping Brackets & Seller Liability

Estimating postage costs is crucial to securing a fast sale. We provide four postage brackets as general guidelines based on package weights and common classic parts:

Bracket Max Weight Suggested Rate Typical Examples
Small Up to 2kg £4.50 Badges, decals, small trim pieces, dashboard dials, light hardware.
Medium Up to 5kg £8.50 Carburettors, gauges, steering wheels, minor mechanical units, distributors.
Large Up to 15kg £15.00 Brake calipers, manifolds, starters, alternators, shock absorbers, brake discs.
Heavy / Freight Over 15kg Custom Engines, gearboxes, wheels/tyres, cylinder heads, doors, bumpers.

⚠️ CRITICAL SELLER LIABILITY: Suggested rates are approximate estimates only and are provided to assist in the listing process. As a seller, you are solely responsible for verifying the actual courier rates and obtaining adequate transit insurance matching the full value of the sold item. The Parts Shop accepts no liability for postage under-estimates or uninsured losses during transit.
