How The Parts Shop Works

The UK’s dedicated marketplace for classic car enthusiasts. We combine a safe, buyer-protected payment system with smart fitment tools so you can buy and sell hard-to-find parts with total confidence.

🛒 For Buyers

Find or Request What You Need

Search for parts using registration lookup, or post a request on our Wanted Board if you’re hunting for something rare.

Bundle & Save on Shipping

Buying multiple items from the same seller? Easily bundle them together into a single, custom-priced order to save time and postage.

Safe Payment Hold

Your money stays safely held until your part arrives and you’ve verified it’s correct. Once you confirm everything is satisfactory, payment is released to the seller.

🔧 For Sellers

List Parts or Browse Wanted Ads

Easily list your spare parts using donor reg lookup, or browse active buyer requests on the Wanted Board to make direct offers.

Negotiate & Manage Orders

Review incoming buyer offers, send counter-proposals, and manage custom bundles cleanly right from your Selling Dashboard.

Easy Integrated Shipping

Dispatch your items with integrated Royal Mail or courier tracking so both you and your buyer can follow delivery step-by-step.

🛡️

Buyer Protection & Safe Payments

We designed our protection around the real-world needs of classic restoration, keeping payouts secure while giving both sides a fair, clear path to resolve any issues.

Payment Protection

When an item is purchased, funds are safely held under Buyer Protection. The seller is notified to ship, knowing their payment is fully secured.

Inspect Your Part

Once delivered, check the item against your chassis or measurements. If it arrives damaged, incorrect, or with fitment issues, click Report an Issue right from your dashboard. This pauses payment release immediately.

Fair & Transparent Fees

We keep our fee structure simple to support secure payments, protect buyer funds safely, and fund our fitment databases and friendly support team.

Buyers: Buyer Protection Protected

A small fee is added at checkout to ensure every transaction on The Parts Shop is 100% safe. This covers:

🛡️ Payment Protection: Payouts are safely held until your part arrives and is verified.
💳 Encrypted Payment Handling: Safe, fraud-protected checkout.
🤝 Dedicated Platform Assistance: Full access to our team and structured resolution chat if a part isn't right.
Fee Rates:
• Fixed Base: £0.70 per transaction
• Up to £49.99: 6.5%
• £50.00 – £199.99: 5.5%
• £200.00 – £499.99: 4.5%
• £500.00 & above: 3.5%
Quick Example: On a £150.00 part (which falls into the 5.5% tier), the Buyer Protection is £8.95 (£0.70 base + £8.25 percentage).

Sellers: 0% Commission

Unlike mainstream platforms that take 12.8% to 15% out of your hard-earned sales, The Parts Shop charges zero commission. You only cover direct third-party card processing via Stripe (standard UK rate: 1.5% + 20p)—keeping ~98% of your asking price.

Example (£100.00 Part Sale):
Part Listed Price: £100.00
The Parts Shop Commission (0%): £0.00
Stripe Card Processing (1.5% + 20p): -£1.70
Payout to Your Bank: £98.30
⚡ Industry Comparison vs. eBay: Mainstream marketplaces charge vehicle parts sellers an average of 12.8% + 30p (£13.10 deducted on £100 → you keep only £86.90). On The Parts Shop, you pocket £98.30 — keeping an extra +£11.40 in your bank.
